Improving diets in an era of food market transformation: Challenges and opportunities for engagement between the public and private sectors
This policy brief from the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition identifies areas for further action and investigation that can support better links between the public and private sectors. With the aim of stimulating governments and other stakeholders to help build strategies to incentivise the private sector to do more for nutrition, the authors suggest six priority areas for action:
- Encouraging investments in food sector SMEs
- Promoting consumer demand for healthy diets
- Providing public incentives for appropriate action in the private sector
- Managing risks
- Building trust
- Investing in infrastructure
Useful resource for decision makers everywhere, especially in Africa and South Asia.
