The dating game: How confusing food date labels leads to food waste in America

It is far too easy to read expiration dates and food labels and err on the side of caution. Equally, there are limited binding standards regulating date labelling. Sadly, the misuse of food expiration labels is a significant contributor to food waste. This report looks at what can be done by both governments and industry to ensure that food labels are not unnecessarily triggering waste.
