The New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition in Africa report

By:
Policy Department, European Parliament
Date:
2015

This report by the European Union addresses challenges of implementing country cooperation frameworks that fall under the auspices of the New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition. In many respects, cooperation frameworks fail to support women’s rights, land rights, regulation of contract farming, and a shift to sustainable agriculture. The report gives a summary of the rationale and context to the adoption of the New Alliance during the 2012 G8 and discusses national ownership of plans. Example projects bring issues to light.
