Chapter four of the Global Nutrition Report looks at diets as both a cause and a solution to malnutrition. The data gaps are wide - calling for improved quality and availability of data. The report focuses on infant and young child feeding practices and includes a spotlight to show that ‘rapid progress to improve the diets on infants and young children is possible.’ The case study on the Alive and Thrive program in Bangladesh illustrates what can be done through sustained and collaborative efforts between public and private sectors to change dietary habits, not only mothers and their infants but of entire communities.
