This study examines the relationship between food safety attitudes and sustainable food consumption behaviors among university students in Türkiye. Conducted as a cross-sectional study with 360 university students from multiple faculties, the research aimed to determine whether stronger food safety awareness is associated with healthier and more sustainable food-related behaviors.
The article begins by emphasizing the growing importance of sustainable nutrition and food safety in addressing global public health and environmental challenges. The authors explain that food systems contribute substantially to greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and climate change, making sustainable food consumption essential for achieving global sustainability goals.
