Recommendations from the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems are targeted at policy makers in low- and middle-income countries, but all of their work is underpinned by the assumption that addressing nutrition requires multisectoral coordination and systems-thinking. In this brief, GloPan calls on stakeholders across the food system to work together to prioritise food loss and waste as a way to improve diet quality and nutrition outcomes. Recommendations fall into six action areas and require public private engagement to maximise impact: Educating stakeholders; protecting nutrients already in the food system; improving infrastructure; encouraging innovation; closing the data gap; and closing the knowledge gap.
