The cost of a nutritious meal is not fixed and it can be heavily dependent upon the season. This study assesses what it costs to purchase nutritious food baskets in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. The study uses the Nutritious Food Price Index to track changes in the price of nutritious foods and compares it with other methods. A highly detailed report that sheds light on the challenges facing low-income consumers. While the paper does not focus on public private engagement in particular, the findings are relevant for anyone looking to influence nutrition policy or grow business in these markets.
