The WHO Secretariat has prepared a draft WHO Global Strategy (Released on 21 April 2022) for Food Safety with the advice of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Food Safety: Safer food for better health. The current draft strategy reflects feedback received through a comprehensive consultation process with Member States and governmental institutions, UN agencies and other intergovernmental organizations, academic institutions, NGOs, private sector entities, and individuals working in public health and food safety.
Vision of the draft strategy : To ensure all people, everywhere, consume safe and healthy food so as to reduce the burden of foodborne diseases. With 5 interlinked and mutually supportive strategic priorities, the draft strategy aims to build forward-looking, evidence-based, people-centred, and cost-effective food safety systems with coordinated governance and adequate infrastructures.
