This review examines how food systems thinking is applied to understand the consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) among adolescents in Ghana. Mapping evidence against the Food Systems Framework for Improved Nutrition, the study highlights a predominant focus on behavioral aspects without integrating broader food system drivers, such as trade and regulation. Findings underscore a need for interdisciplinary approaches that account for the social and economic factors influencing adolescents’ food environments and UPF consumption.
