Inclusive business models for access to quality fish seed and technical assistance: Insights from Ghana

International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)

Given the expansion of Tilapia farming in Ghana, this paper analyses inclusive business models along the fish seed value chain. There is a table of classifications and examples of inclusive business models on page nine and a seed systems business model review on page ten. The research exposes challenges for farmers that are relevant to public private engagements in aquaculture. Four model prototypes have been developed: nursery, local feed mill, seed agents, and local hatchery with an overview of the value proposition and financial considerations for each model. This is an in-depth report with plenty of lessons for livelihood and income generation for farmers in value chains.
