There is great opportunity to advance nutritious diets for children and adolescents through school nutrition programmes. In this framework, FAO outlines what is required to help establish and manage healthy school meals. Good nutrition is a critical building block for overall health, as well as physical and mental wellbeing, and promoting healthy eating in school can help with learning and school retention rates. Such an effort requires collaboration between schools, public officials, farmers and private companies.
