This study investigates food waste management within the agricultural food supply chain in Bandung Regency, Indonesia, identifying significant food waste and the complexities of managing it sustainably. To address this, the authors propose a conceptual model based on the ADKAR change management framework, which focuses on five elements: awareness, desire, knowledge, action, and reinforcement. This model aims to promote waste utilization, increase awareness, and shift behaviors toward sustainable practices.
The model outlines strategies to overcome challenges, such as economic barriers and low public awareness, and emphasizes the need for economic incentives and educational initiatives to encourage waste reduction. The study’s systematic approach provides a structured pathway for transitioning to sustainable waste management practices, addressing the intricacies of waste handling and promoting a shift in mindset within the agricultural sector. This research offers insights for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to enhance waste utilization in agricultural supply chains.
