This study investigates bacterial contamination in fruits and vegetables from markets and home gardens in Southwestern Nigeria. A total of 146 bacteria were isolated, including pathogenic genera such as Bacillus and Enterobacteriaceae. Retail samples had higher contamination levels compared to home garden samples. The findings emphasize the public health risks associated with microbial contamination and recommend improved hygiene practices across the supply chain to enhance food safety.
