This study, led by Cinzia Franchini and colleagues, assesses the adherence to the Mediterranean Diet (MD) among a nationally representative sample of US university students and its relationship with sustainable dietary behaviors, sociodemographic factors, and lifestyle. The research found that students with medium adherence to the MD were most prevalent (47%). Adherence was positively associated with physical activity, sustainable dietary choices, and frequent attendance at university canteens. These findings highlight the potential role of universities in promoting healthy, sustainable eating habits among students.
