This study compares the typical Australian diet with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the EAT-Lancet Planetary Health Diet to evaluate health and environmental impacts. Results indicate that Australians consume excessive discretionary foods and insufficient plant-based foods compared to both dietary standards. While the Australian Dietary Guidelines focus on health, the EAT-Lancet diet also emphasizes environmental sustainability. The findings suggest that significant dietary shifts are necessary for Australians to meet health and sustainability targets.
