The article examines dietary patterns among morbidly obese (MO) US adults and evaluates how their nutrient intakes align with the 2020–2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). Using NHANES data (2007–2016), it identifies critical disparities in intake, particularly concerning fiber, calcium, saturated fats, and fat-soluble vitamins. Fiber deficiency was particularly prevalent in females. Up to 28% of MO individuals reported being on special diets, though overall energy intake did not correlate with BMI. The study stresses the public health implications of poor dietary quality among this population and calls for tailored nutritional policies and interventions.
