The AgroEco2050 foresight study, led by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, CIRAD, and FAO, examines two future pathways for Andhra Pradesh’s food systems by 2050: industrial agriculture and natural farming.
• Industrial Agriculture Scenario: Focuses on high-tech, capital-intensive farming with mass production and export-oriented markets, heavily reliant on chemical inputs.
• Natural Farming Scenario: Prioritizes agroecology, local markets, biodiversity, and a community-led approach that integrates scientific and indigenous knowledge.
Findings indicate that natural farming increases employment, restores biodiversity, and improves nutrition security while ensuring resilience to climate change. The study highlights policy recommendations and scalable models for sustainable agrifood systems in India.
