This review examines the role of plant-based dairy alternatives (PBDAs) in promoting sustainable and healthy diets. Fortified PBDAs like soya and oat drinks provide comparable nutrients (e.g., protein, calcium, vitamin D) with reduced environmental footprints. Soya drinks produce 29% of the greenhouse gas emissions of dairy milk per serving, while land and water use are also significantly lower. The study highlights that transitioning to fortified PBDAs aligns with sustainable dietary patterns and reduces ecological impacts without compromising nutritional quality.
