This study investigates the microbial quality and antibiotic resistance of Staphylococcus aureus in ready-to-eat (RTE) foods sold in Obio/Akpor, Rivers State, Nigeria. Results show that 44% of samples had unsatisfactory microbial levels. Confirmed S. aureus isolates exhibited high resistance to antibiotics like cloxacillin (91.18%) and cefuroxime (82.35%). The study underscores the public health threat posed by RTE foods as reservoirs of multidrug-resistant S. aureus strains.
