This study explores the role of indole metabolites, derived from gut microbiota, in cardiometabolic health among Chinese adults over one year. Key findings indicate that indole-3-propionic acid (IPA), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), and indole-3-aldehyde (IAld) positively influence lipid profiles and arterial stiffness. However, IAld was associated with a decrease in HDL-C. The study identifies 18 bacterial genera contributing to IPA production and develops a microbial score predictive of cardiometabolic risk, suggesting a critical role for gut microbiota in metabolic health.
