This FAO factsheet presents a project implemented from 2017 to 2022 aimed at improving food security through food fortification in The Gambia. Key achievements include the establishment of a legal framework for food fortification, creation of a National Alliance for Food Fortification, the launch of standards for fortified products, and biofortification of crops like maize, cassava, and sweet potato. The project reached over 10,000 beneficiaries with fortified and biofortified foods and trained over 1,300 people on nutrition through SBCC.
