This report summarizes the Healthy Diets for Tea Communities programme, a public-private initiative by GAIN and the Ethical Tea Partnership, conducted between 2020 and 2023 in Kenya, Malawi, and Assam (India). The programme aimed to increase dietary diversity and access to nutritious foods among tea workers and farmers.

Key outcomes:

734,075 people reached, including 146,815 estate workers and farmers directly.
Fortified and biofortified foods were promoted, increasing their consumption.
Healthy Line Shops in Assam improved access to nutrient-rich foods, reaching 76,000 people.
Smallholder farmers in Kenya and Malawi adopted fortified crops like high-iron beans and sweet potatoes.
COVID-19 adaptations ensured continuity via online cooking demonstrations and community outreach.
The programme resulted in improved dietary diversity, better nutrition awareness, and sustained government engagement for workforce nutrition.
