This GAIN and Ethical Tea Partnership initiative targeted tea estate workers in Assam, India, aiming to improve dietary diversity and nutrition awareness. The program engaged 450,270 people, including 90,054 estate workers directly.
Key impacts:
Awareness of fortified cooking oil increased from 68% to 82%.
Use of fortified cooking oil rose by 20%, with a 50% increase in areas with Dharmalife entrepreneurs.
Consumption of nutrient-dense vegetables increased by 40%.
The percentage of women achieving minimum dietary diversity (5 out of 10 food groups) increased from 50% to 78%.
The initiative also introduced market-based solutions such as Healthy Line Shops, which improved access to nutritious food and hygiene products.
