This report, developed by the Food Systems Countdown Initiative, presents a comprehensive analysis of global food systems using 50 key indicators across five dimensions:
Diets, nutrition, and health
Environment, natural resources, and production
Livelihoods, poverty, and equity
Governance
Resilience
Findings show that over 3.1 billion people cannot afford a healthy diet, and 735 million remain undernourished. Food systems contribute 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, while only 29 out of 187 countries recognize the right to food in their constitutions. The report emphasizes the need for food systems transformation, advocating for sustainable policies, better monitoring mechanisms, and cross-country collaboration.
