Food Insecurity Among Households with Children During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Results from a Study Among Social Media Users Across the United States by Niyati Parekh et al. investigates the prevalence of food insecurity among U.S. households with children during the pandemic. The study utilized social media platforms to recruit participants and administered an online survey to assess demographics and food insecurity levels using the USDA Household Food Security Survey Module. Findings revealed that 14.7% of participants reported low or very low food security, with a higher prevalence of 17.5% among households with children. Factors such as unemployment, lower educational attainment, and low income were significantly associated with increased odds of food insecurity. The study highlights the exacerbation of food insecurity during the pandemic and aims to inform future research and interventions for vulnerable groups.
