This report assesses food safety knowledge, attitudes, and practices in Nigerian traditional markets, focusing on Kebbi and Sokoto States. It finds that while food safety awareness is moderate, implementation of food safety practices is inconsistent. Consumers prioritize food safety in their purchasing decisions but lack sufficient knowledge and confidence to act on it. Vendors also demonstrate moderate food safety practices but rarely engage in discussions about food safety with consumers. The study informs future interventions to improve food safety in Nigerian markets.
