This study investigates how diet influences metabolic health and gut microbial composition in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). A case-control study of 57 IBD patients in remission and 24 healthy controls examined dietary intake, metabolic profiles, and stool microbiota. Results revealed that high saturated fat intake correlated with increased BMI, while fiber intake was inversely related. IBD patients consuming more processed meat and added sugar had lower gut microbial diversity. However, no link was found between diet or microbiota and disease flare-ups, suggesting diet plays a role in metabolic health and gut microbiota in IBD.
