This briefing paper explores business models that companies use to make nutritious foods more accessible to lower-income consumers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It identifies 13 key business model features such as cross-subsidization, selling in small quantities, using waste products, and last-mile distribution networks. These approaches aim to balance affordability with financial viability for companies. While promising, there is limited evidence on their long-term effectiveness in improving nutrition.
