This study details the development and validation of two brief tools to measure nutrition literacy in Austria: the Nutrition Health Literacy Scale (NHLS) and the Self-Perceived Food Literacy Scale - Short Form (SPFL-SF). The tools were validated in a sample of 3,000 adults and showed high internal consistency. The study underscores the importance of such tools in understanding nutrition literacy as a determinant of dietary behavior and health, particularly for addressing public health issues like obesity.
