This report explores how improving nutrition among India’s workforce can enhance worker well-being, productivity, and economic growth. It identifies four key workforce nutrition pillars:
Access to healthy food at work
Breastfeeding support for working mothers
Nutrition-related health checks and dietary counseling
Nutrition education and awareness programs
Findings indicate that undernutrition and hidden hunger impact millions of workers, reducing productivity and increasing healthcare costs. Despite India being a major food producer, 16.6% of its population remains undernourished, with many workers consuming low-nutrient, high-calorie diets. The study calls for corporate-led nutrition initiatives, government incentives, and ESG-based reporting on nutrition policies to improve workforce nutrition.
