This research evaluates food security in Mexico by assessing food availability across 2,471 municipalities. The study uses five sub-indicators: environmental and social conditions, food supply, caloric and protein sufficiency, and production capabilities. Results indicate that 90% of municipalities meet caloric and protein demands, but food insecurity stems from economic inequalities and social challenges rather than food availability. The study emphasizes the need for economic support and public policies targeting vulnerable populations to address systemic food insecurity.
