This report presents a comprehensive analysis of external development financial flows directed toward Africa’s food systems between 2018 and 2023 under the 3FS (Tracking Financial Flows to Food Systems) framework developed by IFAD and the World Bank. The report examines how bilateral donors, multilateral institutions, and philanthropic organizations finance food systems transformation across African countries, highlighting both opportunities and persistent financing gaps. Africa remains the largest global recipient of food systems financing, receiving between 38–42% of total global external development funding for food systems, amounting to US$117 billion over the six-year period.
