This study assessed diet quality and adherence to national dietary guidelines among children and adolescents in five Mediterranean countries. The results showed poor adherence to plant-based food recommendations, with moderate compliance for animal products and fats. Better diet quality was linked to healthier lifestyles, including sufficient sleep and physical activity. The study emphasizes the need for improved dietary habits among youth to prevent long-term health issues.
