This study, led by Dong Zhao and Yiying Gong, evaluates the validity of a 64-item food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) used to assess food and nutrient intakes among Chinese adults. The researchers compared the results from the FFQ with those from 3-day 24-hour dietary recalls (24HRs) collected from 2,325 adults in eastern China. The findings indicate that the FFQ, when used with a weighted food composition table (WFCT), provides a reasonable assessment of dietary intakes. The study underscores the FFQ's utility in large-scale epidemiological research, though it also highlights the need for regional-specific adaptations to improve accuracy.
