This study introduces the Swedish Dietary Guideline Index (SweDGI) to evaluate adherence to dietary guidelines and their impact on gut microbiota and metabolic syndrome (MetS). Findings reveal that higher SweDGI scores are associated with richer gut microbiota diversity and lower MetS prevalence. The combination of a high SweDGI and robust gut microbial diversity yields the lowest prevalence of MetS, emphasizing the importance of dietary patterns in metabolic health.
