This FAO-supported initiative in Mongolia enhanced food safety and plant health through pesticide monitoring, lab capacity development, and soil health assessment. A National Residue Control Programme was implemented, detecting pesticide residues in crops like sea buckthorn. The project equipped labs with modern testing tools, trained lab technicians, and improved compliance with international phytosanitary standards. A plant genetic resources registration system was also developed. These actions contributed to safer food, sustainable agriculture, and better institutional coordination.
