This review critically examines global research on how the COVID-19 pandemic affected food security, using PRISMA and bibliometric analysis. Quantitative methods dominate the literature, with minimal use of mixed-method approaches. Key findings reveal increased food loss and waste due to panic buying and disruptions in supply chains, alongside rising food prices. The review highlights the role of governments in addressing these challenges through improved supply chains, food bank support, and local market connections. Future research should focus on comprehensive approaches to strengthen food security in crises.
