This report by Deloitte looks at solutions for post-harvest loss in Sub Sahara Africa, given that in this region of the world alone approximately 95% of food loss occurs before food reaches the consumer. A return on investment analysis shows which interventions work best at points in the value chain. Importantly, the metrics are assessed against the triple bottom line: secure livelihoods, ecosystems, health and nutrition. Three models are given, which combine these solutions. This is an excellent resource packed with information and practical solutions for public and private actors engaging in value chains. There are many lessons to be learned and solutions to be implemented.
