This study examines the potential life expectancy gains associated with sustained adherence to healthier diets in the UK, using data from the UK Biobank. Shifting from a typical UK diet to one based on the Eatwell Guide could increase life expectancy by 8.9 years for men and 8.6 years for women. Adopting a longevity-focused diet, which includes more whole grains, fruits, and nuts, could lead to even greater life expectancy gains. Findings emphasize the role of dietary changes in reducing premature mortality and inform policy directions for improving public health outcomes.
