This report highlights the impact of sustainable soil management (SSM) in addressing hidden hunger and improving food security in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. It discusses how nutrient-poor soils result in micronutrient deficiencies in staple crops, leading to inadequate diets. The project, led by the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) and supported by Germany, focused on enhancing soil fertility through sustainable practices to increase the nutritional quality of food. The initiative developed technical guidelines, country-specific fact sheets, and field trials in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, and Malawi, demonstrating improved soil health and crop nutrition.
