This study examines the relationship between social media use and disordered eating among Israeli college students. A cross-sectional study with 580 participants found a significant correlation between frequent social media use, particularly of food- and health-related content, and higher disordered eating symptoms. Body dissatisfaction was identified as a key mediator in this relationship. The study calls for targeted interventions to promote media literacy and body positivity to mitigate the negative effects of social media on eating behaviors.
