Household Decision-Making Around Food in Rural Tajikistan: A Cross-Sectional Study (2018)

This study explores food decision-making processes in rural Tajikistan, with a focus on gender roles and nutrition misconceptions. Through key informant interviews and focus group discussions, findings reveal a complex household hierarchy where mothers-in-law significantly influence food choices. Gender-responsive approaches are recommended to improve nutritional outcomes, targeting misconceptions and enhancing dietary diversity. The study highlights the role of agricultural extension agents in supporting nutrition-sensitive interventions.
