This study explores the cultural, social, and economic factors influencing malnutrition among adolescent girls in The Gambia. Using focus group discussions and questionnaires, the study highlights significant urban-rural disparities, with rural girls facing higher undernutrition due to limited access to resources and harmful cultural norms. The double burden of malnutrition—stunting, underweight, and obesity—was evident. Findings emphasize the need for culturally sensitive and multi-level interventions to combat adolescent malnutrition.
