This study by Sengchanh Kounnavong and colleagues evaluates the effectiveness of daily versus twice-weekly home fortification with multiple micronutrient powder (MMP) on hemoglobin concentration and anemia prevalence in children aged 6 to 52 months in rural Lao PDR. Over 24 weeks, 336 children were randomly assigned to receive daily or twice-weekly supplementation, or a control group. Results showed that both treatment groups significantly improved hemoglobin concentrations and reduced anemia prevalence, with daily supplementation yielding quicker recovery among severely anemic children.
