This 10-year cohort study explores how plant-based diets influence disability in daily activities among older adults in China. Using data from the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey (CLHLS), the study categorized diets into healthy and unhealthy plant-based patterns. A healthy plant-based diet (hPDI) significantly reduced disability risk, particularly in individuals under 80, while unhealthy plant-based diets (uPDI) increased the risk. The study highlights the importance of encouraging healthy plant-based eating to prevent disability.
