This study evaluates Scotland's self-sufficiency in key food commodities, using food balance sheets and data spanning 2003–2019. Findings reveal that Scotland is a net exporter of cereals, potatoes, and beef, while self-sufficiency in poultry and pork remains low. Domestic production plays a significant role in nutrient security, especially for wheat and dairy. The study emphasizes the need for strategic investments to enhance local production and resilience in Scotland's food system.
