The paper "Assessing the internal validity of a household survey-based food security measure adapted for use in Iran," published in Nutrition Journal, evaluates the internal validity of the U.S. Household Food Security Survey Module (HFSSM) adapted for the Iranian population. The study was conducted in Isfahan, Iran, with a sample of 2,004 households. Using statistical analysis based on the Rasch model, the researchers assessed adult and child food insecurity. Results showed that the adapted tool effectively measured food insecurity in Iran and highlighted the similarities in how food insecurity is experienced in both Iran and the U.S., though some survey items needed refinement for cultural relevance.
