This systematic review assesses the health impact of replacing animal protein with plant protein, focusing on cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Analysis of 13 randomized controlled trials and seven cohort studies indicates that substituting plant protein may reduce total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein levels, while cohort data suggest it lowers CVD mortality and T2D incidence. The findings support dietary shifts towards plant protein as a potential public health strategy for reducing chronic disease risks and promoting sustainability.
