This study examines the relationship between the affordability of healthy diets and food system performance across Nigeria’s states, using a Food System Index (FSI). Findings reveal significant disparities, with affordability being lower in northern states despite comparatively lower food costs. The study suggests that strengthening food supply chains, improving infrastructure, and empowering women can enhance diet affordability, particularly in underserved regions, helping bridge nutritional inequalities across Nigeria.
