Validation of a Digital Food Frequency Questionnaire for the Northern Sweden Diet Database

This study, authored by Maria Wennberg and colleagues, evaluates the validity and reproducibility of FFQ2020, a modernized digital food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) designed to capture contemporary dietary habits in Northern Sweden. The research compares FFQ2020 to repeated 24-hour dietary recalls (24HDR) among 244 participants. The results show that FFQ2020 provides acceptable validity for assessing food intake, nutrient consumption, and diet quality indices, with good reproducibility across various food groups and nutrients. The study concludes that FFQ2020 is a reliable tool for large-scale epidemiological studies on diet and health.
